始まりは彼女の髪型にあった。学生時代のユージニアは自分の髪型が気に入らず、髪を刈ってしまったという。そしてその頭を補うために、その当時ニューヨークのパーソンズ・スクールでデザインを学んでいたユージニアは、羽を髪の毛のように施した帽子を作ったのだ。

するとその絶妙なユーモアを帯びたその作品は瞬く間にニューヨークのバイヤー達の目に留まり、今や世界ではバーニーズニューヨークやサックスフィフスアベニューをはじめとする100を超えるショップで扱われることとなった。

そんな彼女の作品には形へのこだわりだけでなく素材の良さへの執着も感じさせられ、良質なミンクやフォックスのファーが大胆にあしらわれた作品はチューイングガムのようなピンクやブルーといった色鮮やかな色で展開されている。
